Why Gravity Pour exists
A paper filter, every single morning.
Fold it, wet it, brew, throw it away, buy another box.
Pour-over is a lovely ritual with a small chore built in. We wanted to keep the ritual and lose the chore.

The filter
The cone is the filter.
The cone is unglazed porous ceramic. Coffee seeps through the clay itself and drips from the tip into your cup, while the grounds stay behind in the cone.
There's no paper to fold or buy, and nothing to throw away but the grounds.
Rinse after each brew, no soap. If it starts to drip slowly over time, boiling it for a few minutes usually opens the clay up again.

First samples

Design done, pre-orders open
The design and engineering are finished: a solid ash base, a satin brass stand and an unglazed porous ceramic cone, sized to sit over most cups and mugs. We are now asking cone and stand makers for quotes and first samples. Pre-orders come from the first production batch, and every base in it is engraved with its own number.
We add to this log every time the timeline moves, good news or late news.

The add-on
Four cups, glazed by the fire.
A reactive glaze changes in the kiln, so every cup comes out a little different. Same clay as the cone, finished the opposite way: glazed so nothing passes through.
Handleless stoneware, sized to sit in the stand. Add them to your pre-order for €52,95 the set.
What makes it
- No paper filtersThe ceramic cone does the filtering.
- No cables, no plasticAsh, brass and ceramic. Nothing to plug in.
- Your kettle, your pacePour slowly and watch it drip.
- Made to leave outIt looks good on the counter between brews.
- Good things take timeA slow drip through the clay. Pour, step back, let it work.
- A numbered first batchPre-orders come from the first batch, each base engraved with its own number.

How it's built
Three parts. Nothing else.
A solid ash base. A stand bent from one solid brass rod, ending in the ring that holds the cone. The stand is fixed into a pocket cut into the ash with two screws, so it arrives assembled and stays put.
The porous ceramic cone simply sits in the ring. Lift it out to tip the grounds and rinse it.
Pre-orders come from the first batch. Every base in it is engraved with its own number.
How it compares

Care
Rinse it. That's it.
Tip the grounds into the compost and rinse the cone under the tap. No soap: the clay can hold on to the taste of it.
Over time the pores can slowly fill and the drip gets slower. Boiling the cone for a few minutes usually opens the clay up again.
Wipe the ash base and brass stand dry. Hand wash only.

Questions
Do I need paper filters?
No. The ceramic cone is the filter.
Is a cup included?
No. Use your own cup or add the Kiln Cups. Most cups and mugs fit, up to about 7 in (18 cm) tall: the cone tip can sit just inside a wider cup. The recess in the base takes a cup foot up to about 3 in (8 cm) across.
What grind should I use?
Medium to medium-coarse, about what you'd use for a Chemex. Very fine coffee slows the drip.
How long does a cup take?
A few minutes, often a little longer than a paper pour-over. It depends on your grind and how fast you pour. Good coffee takes its time.
How do I clean it?
Tip out the grounds and rinse the cone under the tap, no soap. Over time the clay can slow down; boiling the cone for a few minutes usually opens it up again.
Can it go in the dishwasher?
No, hand wash only.
Does it work with any kettle?
Yes. A gooseneck kettle makes a slow, even pour easiest, but any kettle works.
How much does it make?
One cup at a time.
What is it made of?
A solid ash base, a solid brass rod in a satin finish and an unglazed porous ceramic cone.
Does it need assembling?
No. It arrives with the stand already fixed to the base. Set the cone in the ring and it's ready.
How does the coffee taste?
People who already brew with porous ceramic filters, the kind of cone Gravity Pour uses, often describe a fuller, richer cup than with paper, with most of the fine grounds held back in the clay. It takes a little longer than paper, and many of them count that as part of the ritual.
How do I empty the cone after brewing?
Give it a minute to cool, lift it out of the ring by the rim and tip the grounds into the compost. Then rinse it under the tap.
Can I get a second cone?
Yes. Tick the second ceramic cone when you pre-order, for two cups back to back. Cones will also be sold on their own after launch.
When does it ship?
It ships in April 2027. This page is always updated with the latest timeline.
How much is shipping?
Gravity Pour ships to US addresses only at launch. Shipping is free from $169, so one Gravity Pour with the Kiln Cups or a second cone ships free. Below that it's $9.95.
Can I cancel?
Yes, any time before it ships, for a full refund. Reply to your order confirmation email and we'll cancel and refund it.
