About Better Objects — Our Story, Founders & Mission

We design reusable alternatives to single-use everyday objects

Better Objects is the brand name for LastObject ApS -- a Copenhagen-based design company founded in 2016 by Isabel Aagaard, Nicolas Aagaard, and Kare Frandsen. We make products that replace the single-use items in your daily routine with something designed to last years.

Where we come from

LastObject was founded in Copenhagen in 2016. The company's first public moment came in 2019, when the original LastSwab campaign launched on Kickstarter and reached its funding goal in 22 minutes. By the end of the campaign, 19,909 backers had pledged over USD 700,000. Eight Kickstarter campaigns have followed -- every one of them fully funded.

The transition to Better Objects as a brand name is about range, not a change of values. As the product range expanded beyond single-use replacements to include things like SoundUp (a Bluetooth amplifier that helps you keep speakers you already own), a wider name made sense. The founders

Isabel Aagaard (Co-founder & CEO) -- Isabel founded LastObject after noticing that the most mundane objects in everyday life were also some of the most carelessly designed. Her work has been featured in dozens of international publications.

Nicolas Aagaard (Co-founder) -- Nicolas leads operations and product development at LastObject ApS.

Kare Frandsen (Co-founder) -- Kare leads technical product engineering and supply chain.

Our certifications

ISO-certified LCA -- LastSwab has 8.3x less environmental impact than single-use cotton swabs across all 22 categories. Break-even: 35 uses.
GOTS (Global Organic Textile Standard) -- Organic cotton in LastTissue and LastRound, verified farm to finished product.
FSC (Forest Stewardship Council) -- All packaging uses FSC-certified cardboard.
Recycled plastic -- LastSwab carrying case. Rod: polypropylene reinforced with glass fiber.
